Dr. Josh Collingsworth is a native to Virginia Beach, VA where he attended Cape Henry Collegiate School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science with concentration in Kinesiology from Longwood University and layer graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida where he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic. As a longtime resident of the Virginia Beach community, health and wellness has always been an important aspect of his life. Dr. Josh's initial plan was to attend medical school, but during his senior year in college his mind was changed when he started chiropractic care following a car accident that left him with low back and hip pain.
Dr. Josh quickly realized that chiropractic could not only help his pain, but also would improve his overall health and wellness. Discovering that holistic healthcare was more congruent with his deals, he wanted to help others in a similar fashion, leading them to a higher quality of life without the use of prescription medication or surgery. Dr. Josh utilizes the "Palmer Package" which incorporates Gonstead, Thompson, Activator and diversified techniques in the care of his patients. He has been trained to use Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization techniques (IASTM) which helps to locate and address soft tissue dysfunction throughout the body. Currently, Dr. Josh is also engaged in a fellowship program with the Chiropractic Hands and Foot Clinics of America (CHFA) which allows him to effectively treat a variety of musculoskeletal hand and foot conditions that affect seasoned athletes as well as the occasional weekend warrior.
Dr. Josh has also participated in numerous sports over the years including Sprint Triathlons, Half-marathons, snowboarding, Lacrosse, and Ice Hockey. He is also currently active with strength training, kettlebells, CrossFit, and Olympic Lifting. His diverse experience with sports and sports injuries gives him first-hand knowledge of what specific treatment it takes to return to your sport, along with techniques for minimizing the likelihood of re-injury. Dr. Josh is constantly reading and researching the latest techniques in the chiropractic field and attends seminars to deepen his knowledge and improve his management and quality of patient care.
In his spare time, Dr. Josh enjoys CrossFit, attending country concerts, beach volleyball and spending time with his wife (Jody) and two sons (Jackson) and (Jude).
